To develop for a start in the first year, 200 hectares of mango orchards in every state of the Federation, cultivating 400 stands per hectare, 80,000 trees in each state, 2,960,000 trees across the country translating to 592,000 tonnes of fruits every year in the first four years of planting.
To provide direct employment to moderate hundred thousand Nigerians across the value chain and multiply the number of years of sustained equal Expansion of production.
* MANGO is the only tree crop that can grow all over Nigeria from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean to the fringes of the Sahara desert.
* MANGO is ready food when plucked raw, and jealously protected by even peasant farmers.
* MANGO is a natural abode to the HONEY BEE which is only second to the wind as a vector for cross pollination.
* MANGO serves as a shelter and soil rejuvenation to farms and habitats.
* All parts of MANGO tree are used for medicinal purposes.
* MANGO is resistant to most severe climate conditions.
* MANGO does not require too technical skills to be cultivated, though good Agricultural practices will definitely maximize output.
